Cosa fanno le altre allenze?
- British Airways and Iberia have signed their formal merger agreement, consistently in all significant aspects with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Nov-2009. The merger, expected to be completed in late 2010, will create a new holding company called International Airlines Group, under which both carriers will retain their current individual brands and operations.
As stipulated in the MoU, Iberia will be entitled to "terminate the merger agreement if the pension recovery plan agreed between British Airways and its pension trustees is not, in Iberia's reasonable opinion, satisfactory because it is materially detrimental to the economic premises of the proposed merger".
- Star alliance's carriers United Airlines and US Airways are exploring a merger, the New York Times reported yesterday. The newspaper said that a deal could be announced in the coming weeks. Those two companies already tried to merge in 2000 but, due to labour opposition and antitrust refusal, United backed away from the deal in summer 2001.
