Mexicana

IATA suspended Mexicana from the association because of carrier’s failure to pay a required deposit. The move restricts Mexicana’s ability to sell tickets through travel agents but does not affect other distribution channels (such as a carrier’s own web site, city ticket offices and airport counters). The carrier confirmed it has suspended ticket sales on mainline flights but insisted it would continue to operate flights "as scheduled."

Mexican district civil court has granted Mexicana formal protection from creditors. The carrier announced "it will be forced to cancel certain flights over coming days to optimize available resources and ensure that priority is given to homebound passengers". Cancelled services include flights from Mexico City to Madrid (on 09-Aug-2010) and London Gatwick (09-Aug-2010) as well as Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Bogota, Montréal... (ATI, Aviation Daily)
